Single Photo Friday:: Superhero Plunge

It is Friday, right? I think it is, and I also think it is the final Friday of 2011. How does everyone feel about that?

I have heard people say 2011 was a mix of really good and really tough times. For me, it was a pretty good year sprinkled with enough challenges and excitement and new things to keep my happy. I always like this final week of the year when I can think about the year ahead, and take moments to look back and appreciate. This often means combing through images, making some updates to the website. While looking through the images of last year I found this one from the Polar Dip at East End Beach here in Portland – an event that raised money for Camp Sunshine (more here). I didn’t do anything with this image almost a year ago, and now here I am thinking how much I like it. Funny how a little time and distance can make you see things in a different way.

This was taken just minutes before Supergirl plunged herself into the cold waters of the Atlantic. As a spectator with a camera and a few new friends to cheer on, this event was one of my highlights from the past year. It was awesome to witness people coming together for a cause, and have tons of fun in the process. If I play my cards right I will hopefully repeat this activity again this year, with camera in tow.

.

What kinds of things will you do to challenge yourself in the coming year?
